Privacy Policy
Louilingo is a Louisiana French and Louisiana Creole (Kouri-Vini) language learning app. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
The short version
Louilingo has no accounts, no third-party ads, no tracking, and no server of its own. Your learning progress stays on your device. Nothing you do in the app is uploaded anywhere by us. The app keeps a few anonymous usage counts on your device to help us improve it — you can turn that off or erase it any time.
Learning progress
Your lesson progress, XP, streaks, high scores, and settings are stored locally on your device — in app storage on your phone, or in your browser's local storage on the web. They never leave your device. Deleting the app, or clearing your browser data, erases them.
Usage statistics (optional)
To understand which features are useful, the app counts a small set of events — for example "a lesson was completed" or "the radio was opened." These counts:
- are stored on your device and kept for at most 60 days;
- use a random install identifier that is not tied to your name, email, phone number, or any account (none exist in Louilingo);
- never include what you typed, said, or recorded, and never include your location;
- are never used to infer who you are — choosing Cajun or Creole is treated as a content preference, nothing more;
- can be turned off in Profile → Data & Privacy, which also lets you erase everything the app has stored.
Microphone and recordings
Two screens can use the microphone, and only while you are on them:
- Prononciation (speaking practice) lets you record yourself saying a phrase and compare it to the reference audio. The recording stays on your device and is never uploaded.
- Contribute lets you record a phrase to share with us. The recording is saved temporarily on your device and attached to an email draft in your own mail app — you decide whether to send it.
Nothing is recorded in the background. If you never use those screens, the microphone is never accessed.
Reminders
If you turn on a daily practice reminder, the notification is scheduled locally on your device. No reminder data leaves it.
In-app promotions
The free version of the app occasionally shows a small labeled card promoting one of Louilingo's own features. These cards are chosen by what screen you are on — never by who you are — and no advertising identifiers, ad networks, or third-party ad companies are involved.
Third-party content
Some screens load content from third parties, which involves your device connecting to their servers:
- Video lessons are embedded from YouTube. When you play one, YouTube (Google) may collect data as described in its own privacy policy.
- Live radio streams audio directly from the stations' public stream servers (for example KRVS, KBON, WWOZ, WWNO). Those servers see your device's connection the same way they would if you tuned in from a web browser.
- Support links (such as Buy Me a Coffee) open in your browser and are governed by those sites' policies.
The app sends these services no information about you beyond what any network connection reveals.

The Resources screen links to books and cultural materials on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, Louilingo may earn from qualifying purchases. Following a link takes you to Amazon, where their own privacy policy applies. Nothing there is sponsored, and no publisher or brand has any say in what we recommend.
Children
Louilingo does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address and the date above will change.
